Bridging Ties via Consulate Visit, Forging a New Vision for Yangjiang-Kenya Cooperation

8月13日，阳江市外事局局长曾超群一行赴肯尼亚驻广州总领事馆开展礼节性拜访。肯尼亚驻广州总领馆副领事娜奥米·纳西佩（Ms. NAOMY NASHIPAE）、财务官丹尼斯·卡里乌基（Mr. Dennis KARIUKI）接待曾超群一行。

On 13 August, Zeng Chaoqun, Director-General of Yangjiang Foreign Affairs Bureau, and his entourage paid a courtesy call on the Consulate General of Kenya in Guangzhou. Ms. NAOMY NASHIPAE, Deputy Consul, and Mr. Dennis KARIUKI, Finance Officer of the Consulate General, received the delegation.

肯尼亚是东非地区重要桥头堡，贸易辐射能力突出，同时也是古代海上丝绸之路沿线重要节点；阳江作为海上丝绸之路重要节点城市，两地交往拥有深厚历史渊源，具备互利共赢的良好基础。

Kenya serves as a key gateway to East Africa with strong trade spillover capacity and stands as an important node along the ancient Maritime Silk Road. As a notable node city of the Maritime Silk Road, Yangjiang shares profound historical ties with Kenya, laying a sound foundation for mutually beneficial cooperation.

会谈中，曾超群详细介绍阳江经济社会发展和对外开放优势。目前，我市已形成五金刀剪、海上风电、海洋渔业与特色水产、特色调味品、滨海文旅等优势产业集群，产业链配套完善、出口竞争力强劲，产业结构与肯尼亚市场需求、资源禀赋高度互补，双向合作潜力巨大。肯尼亚的咖啡、牛油果等特色农产品，矿产、生态旅游资源禀赋突出。

During the meeting, Zeng Chaoqun elaborated on Yangjiang’s socio-economic progress and strengths in opening-up. The city has built competitive industrial clusters covering hardware knives & scissors, offshore wind power, marine fisheries & specialty aquatic products, distinctive condiments and coastal cultural tourism. Boasting complete industrial supporting chains and robust export competitiveness, Yangjiang’s industrial structure is highly complementary to Kenya’s market demands and resource endowments, unlocking huge potential for two-way cooperation. Kenya is endowed with distinctive agricultural produce such as coffee and avocados, alongside abundant mineral resources and eco-tourism assets.

同时双方就培育建立阳江与肯尼亚友好城市关系开展磋商，商定建立常态化双向经贸交流机制，搭建供需对接平台，助力阳江优势五金刀剪产品、海洋食品、合金材料等开拓东非市场。

Both sides held consultations on fostering sister-city relations between Yangjiang and Kenya, and agreed to establish a regular two-way economic and trade exchange mechanism and build a supply-demand matching platform, to help Yangjiang’s flagship products including hardware knives & scissors, marine food and alloy materials tap into the East African market.

此次拜访进一步畅通了我市与肯尼亚官方沟通渠道，夯实了双方合作基础。下一步，阳江市外事局将持续深化机制化对接，稳步推进友城培育工作，持续深化经贸互通、产业互融、人文互鉴，不断拓宽阳江对外开放格局，推动中非地方友好合作走深走实、落地见效。

This visit further streamlines official communication channels between Yangjiang and Kenya and consolidates the foundation for bilateral cooperation. Moving forward, Yangjiang Foreign Affairs Bureau will further advance institutionalized engagement, steadily push forward sister-city cultivation, deepen economic and trade connectivity, industrial integration and people-to-people exchanges, broaden Yangjiang’s opening-up landscape, and promote deeper, more tangible sub-national friendly cooperation between China and Africa.
